Because Jazzmasters have been made in the US as originals and reissues, and in Japan there are slight but crucial differences which means replacement pickguards may or may not fit exactly.
From our experience our PG-0582- series in plastic will fit MIJ or CIJ Fender Jazzmasters from the 1990's - mid'00's.
Our PG-0582-060 in gold anodised will fit originals and USA reissues.
The genuine Fender pickguards fit originals and USA reissues and may fit the 'Classic Player' MIM models.
